HR Konclave
The 16th National HR Konclave
KIIT School of Management (KSOM) hosted its 16th National HR Conclave on August 9, 2025, centered on the theme “Navigating the Hybrid Future: Agile, Adaptive, and Integrated Workplaces.” The conclave highlighted the strategies for building flexible, resilient, and human-centric organizations in a hybrid era.
Prof. Isa Mishra, Conclave Convener, extended a warm welcome and greetings on behalf of Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Hon’ble Founder, KIIT & KISS.
The Conclave commenced with an inaugural session on the main theme, followed by a panel discussion on the topic “Data-Driven Insights for Continuous Hybrid Work Optimization” which probed into the unprecedented challenges and extraordinary opportunities presented by hybrid work models and insights aided by data to augment continuous growth in hybrid workplaces.
Innovative group coaching session termed ‘Synergistics’ followed thereafter. These sessions provided an excellent forum for industry stalwarts to engage in insightful and one-on-one discussions with a group of selected students on any subtheme of the main theme of the Conclave.
The 15th National HR Konclave
The 15th National HR Conclave was organized on the theme “Future Proofing HR in the New World of Work”. The Conclave commenced with an inaugural session highlighting the changeover of the landscape of work at an unprecedented pace. This was followed by a keynote session where an industry leader shall prioritize on digital fluency across all levels. Prof. Isa Mishra, Conclave Convener, extended a warm welcome and greetings on behalf of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Hon’ble Founder, KIIT & KISS. Prof. Suva Kanta Mohanty, Director, KSOM highlighted that these are exciting times
Employer-employee relationship is being redefined with every change, with the all-pervasive theme being – trust. Non-traditional work arrangements need protections across workplaces. Individual priorities, especially mental well-being have taken centre stage. Personalized work experiences are being delivered by the HR leaders, who are encouraging employees to provide feedback on landing self-driven well being options. Leaders are not only working on the skills and competencies of their employees, but are also working more towards identifying their ambitions and passions. The Conclave focused on this aspect.
14th National HR Konclave
One of the targets of Sustainable Development Goals has been to promote creation of decent jobs, entrepreneurship and formalization and growth of micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises. Businesses can lead on Goal 8 – Decent work and economic growth, by investing in innovation, labour and capital to achieve strong, sustainable and equitable economic growth. A number of strategies have been adopted by businesses in this regard to close this sustainability gap.
Keeping this in mind, on August 5, 2023, the esteemed KIIT School of Management (KSOM) proudly hosted its 14th National HR Konclave on the theme “Building a Sustainable Inclusive Future – the Role of Business: Leveraging HR Technology for Competitive Advantage”. The august gathering was given a warm welcome upon their arrival by Prof Isa Mishra, Convener of the conclave, who expressed her sincerest gratitude to Hon’ble Founder, KIIT and KISS, Prof Achyuta Samanta, for his continued support for all endeavours leading to the holistic development of students. Prof Kumar Mohanty, Director, Corporate Relations, KIIT DU, emphasised that KIIT and KSOM prioritize industry collaborations over every other benefit offered to students for a bright future.
The inaugural ceremony gave way to Panel 1, based on the theme “Demographic Dynamics for Increased Sustainability”. Panel 2 followed Panel 1, and was based on the theme “Occupational Opportunities for a Sustainable Future”, with a highly successful group of corporate bigwigs. The panel discussions were followed by 8 workshops with guest speakers from top corporates. Workshops were based on varied themes related to the theme of the 14th National HR Konclave.
13th National HR Konclave
On September 24, 2022, KIIT School of Management organized the 13th National HR Konclave which revolved around the theme “The Re-skilling Revolution: The Vector of Transformation”, focusing on informing the audience of the necessary re-skilling for the impending dynamic workplace that the VUCA world demands. The Director, KSOM, Dr. S. K. Mahapatra, delivered the welcome speech, in which he extended his warmest welcome and greetings to everyone in attendance on behalf of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, the Hon’ble Founder, KIIT & KISS.
The 1st panel discussion was on the theme: “Reinventing HR Processes for accelerating Change in the Post-Covid Era”, The 2nd panel discussion was on the theme: “The Rise of Augmented Intelligence and Hybrid Workplace”. The panel discussions were followed by innovative group coaching sessions termed ‘Synergistics’ with students. These included ten parallel interactive workshops, which provided an excellent forum for the industry stalwarts to engage in insightful and one-on-one discussions with a group of selected and interested students. The parallel workshops presented varied perspectives and ideation on subthemes.
The 10th National HR Konclave
The 10th National HR Conclave was held on 3rd Aug, 2019. The Conclave was introduced to the esteemed gathering by Prof. Anil Bajpai, Director, KSOM. During his deliberation, he gave an insight into the evolution of conclaves towards enhancing the pragmatic learning of the students. According to him, the journey of conclaves at KSOM began ten years ago that spread over three functional domains that are HR, Marketing and Finance in an academic session. The Conclave comprised two technical sessions, each track being moderated by a business head. The first track comprised a panel discussion on the main topic: “Critical Competencies for the Future: Is Change the only Constant?” This was followed by a second – panel discussion on the topic: “Gearing Organisations for Change: Issue, Challenges and the Path Ahead”.
In the second half, there were numbers of group-level coaching sessions titled “Synergistics” in which selective groups of students interacted and shared their ideas on various sub-themes with senior HR corporate leaders. These interactions were very lively and contributed significantly to the learning experience of the students.
The 9th National HR Konclave
The 9th National HR Conclave was organized on 28th July, 2018. The theme of the Conclave was: “Future of Work”. For the past several years, different aspects of Future of Work were unfolding like: the growth of off-balance sheet employment, talent platforms, and crowd-sourcing; the increasing power of robotics and cognitive computing to restructure jobs and the benefits and challenges of managing talent in the sharing and collaborative economy. The theme of the Conclave was elucidated upon by Prof. Debasish Das, Director, KSOM.
The Conclave comprised two technical sessions, each track being moderated by a business head. The first track comprised panel discussion on the topic: “End of
Leadership OR Rise of Intellectualism?” This was followed by a second panel discussion on the topic: “Team work OR individual contribution?”
This year the traditional afternoon Workshops were replaced by Large Scale Interactive Process (LSIP). LSIP was primarily organized for intra-company discussions. Post lunch, exclusive Interaction with stalwarts on topics aligned with the theme of the HR Conclave, was conducted. Twenty four discussion groups were organized, with each group comprising one leader, one faculty member, one local HR representative from a corporate and eight students. As many as twenty four HR leaders were invited to be LSIP Table leaders. Six sub themes were discussed by the groups. As a conclusion of the LSIP, six table leaders presented the final action points on respective themes, converging towards the theme of the Conclave. The top five action ideas and top five challenges were shortlisted in the provided templates. The entire process was led by two facilitators.
The 8th National HR Konclave
The 8th National HR Conclave, organized on 19th Aug, 2017 was designed keeping the new roles of HR in mind. It was an era where HR Metrics improved the credibility of HR as a profession, and allowed upper management to identify specific, measurable ways that HR services benefit the organization. The value of any new employee orientation program started being measured in terms of an ROI by assessing the costs saved by correlated reductions in turnover.
The Conclave was based on the theme “Beyond HR: Transcending Functional Boundaries”. The inaugural was followed by the first panel discussion focused on “Impact of Technology on Restructuring Traditional Human Resource Practice” and the second panel on “New Frontiers in HR & Business”. The panel discussions were followed by innovative group coaching sessions termed ‘Synergistics’ with students. These included ten parallel interactive workshops, followed by “Chai Pe Charchaa” – a sit-down high tea with a small group of students to discuss the latest trends and practices in HR.
The 6th National HR Konclave
KIIT School of Management (KSOM) organised its 6th National HR conclave on 25th July, 2015 on the theme “HR Strategy and Tools” and was attended by many eminent personalities from the corporate world. by Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder – KIIT and KISS. Prof. Anil Bajpai, Director, KSOM set the context for the conclave and introduced the theme HR Strategy and Tools. On this occasion a souvenir was released containing articles by corporate leaders, academicians and students.
The Conclave also saw three panel discussions held on interesting topics of ’Cutting Edge HR Trends and Challenges’; ‘HR Managers as Talent Managers’ and ‘Top HR Concerns in the Current Era’. These sub-themes were actively debated and ideated by top HR professionals. The discussions were indeed engaging for the students and corporates equally. These discussions provided new insights as well as brought out unique perspectives on the theme.
The 5th National HR Konclave
KIIT School of Management (KSOM) organized the 5th National HR Conclave on 23rd Aug, 2014 in association with National HRD Network. The Conclave was based on the theme “Psychological Contract – A Competitive Advantage”. The Psychological Contract, a concept developed in contemporary research by organizational scholar Denise Rousseau, represents the mutual beliefs, perceptions, and informal obligations between an employer and an employee. It sets the dynamics for the relationship and defines in detail the work to be done.
The inaugural ceremony was also graced by industry stalwarts. On the occasion, a souvenir was released containing articles and messages by corporate leaders, academicians and students. An engaging panel discussion followed on the theme, with renowned panelists and the discussion was moderated by Prof. Anil Bajpai, Director of the KIIT School of Management. The discussion threw up several insights revolving around multiple aspects of Psychological Contract. The core of Psychological Contract is the unexpressed obligations of the employer and the employees. It should be reciprocated and worked upon in line with their passion and strength, without expecting anything tangible in return.
Ten workshops were conducted during the Conclave on topics like “Proactive Alignment of the Employee/ Employer Perspective”, “Business ethics theory of whistle blowing, Organization social responsibility” covering diverse other aspects of the Psychological Contract spectrum.
